Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at The Depot, Inc. (GOCHC), tirelessly works to preserve our local and regional history. This is a $5.5 M project and once completed, will include a Lobby/Native American Gallery, Theater/ Community Venue Space, Café, Book Store/Gift Shop and outdoor community stage.
This phase concentrated on windows, doors and trim work. Every single window in The Depot was inspected, scraped, repaired and painted. Working with a regional window/sash craftsman, we were able to reproduce several windows that were beyond repair. We installed two custom made front entrance doors and one replicated transom window to freshen the facade and take it back to a more period look. As you look higher on the building, the facia and soffit were also inspected, scraped, repaired and painted. We meticulously restored and repaired numerous areas of the decorative bargeboard trim on the gable ends of the building. This phase of construction makes this building stand out on the grounds of the former Central State Hospital.
